A great combination of new features and the usual Nikon image and build quality make this a superb camera.
Nikon claims the D90 is more power-efficient than previous designs, and we wouldn't disagree. At the top of Nikon's consumer-level DSLR range, the enthusiast D80 has been due a replacement for a while now. Enter the D90, a camera that adds a raft...

AS the first SLR to shoot video footage, Nikon's D90 is certainly an appealing product.
First SLR to shoot video, great noise control, feature-rich, brilliant screen
Live View autofocus is still slow, video footage suffers from wobbling and contrast issues
As the first SLR to shoot video footage, Nikon's D90 is certainly an appealing product. The video mode itself still needs some work but it is fine for casual use and the still image capabilities are top notch as always. This is another impressive, ...
All of these issues add up to mean that the D90's video isn't going to compete with most high-end camcorders, but as a nifty bonus it certainly does a fine job and rivals the movie modes on most compacts.

In case you?'ve been living under a rock over the last month or so, Nikon?'s new mid-range SLR, the D90, is kind of a big deal. "Why?", you might ask. All of these issues add up to mean that the D90?'s video isn?'t going to compete with most...

This 12 megapixel DSLR takes two features of the D300 - the CMOS image sensor and the 75mm high resolution LCD screen - and fits them into what is, in effect, the D80 body. Naturally there is live view and, the big surprise, there is movie mode, a ...
The low light capabilities of this camera are similar to the D300, which means ISO1600 is the new ISO400. The image quality at high ISO settings is breathtaking with very little noise evident in even the trickiest bits of open shadow. Nikon make low ...
Presumably it is in the camera firmware and doesn't cost anything, but does a serious DLSR really need to have a slideshow creator, with music, built in?
This camera is a joy to use. It feels right in the hand. The bright viewfinder displays all the shooting parameter information. The image quality is spectacular. Even the instruction manual and menu system speak quality and careful attention to the ...

It was only a matter of time before one of the camera manufacturers figured out the Live View mode on a DSLR required a video image and then came up with some way to record it. Olympus was hinting at this potential back in January 2006, when the E-330 ...
Once again, Photo Review has been impressed with the outstanding performance of a Nikon DSLR at high sensitivity settings. In both available-light shots and flash shots in low light levels, the test camera turned in an outstanding performance, ...

The Nikon D90 builds on the success of previous Nikon DSLRs and breaks a little ground of its own as the first DSLR to incorporate video. Using Auto Exposure and Auto Focus that is featured in Nikon's pro model DSLRs the Nikon D90 has a 12.3 megapixel ...
has a 12.3 megapixel sensor, ISO range of between 100 to 6400, 3 inch LCD screen (920,000 pixels with 170 degree viewing), Live View mode (for framing shots with the LCD) and a lot of other great features

The 12.3-megapixel D90 captures HD video at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels at 24 frames/second with the clarity and depth-of-field control that only a DSLR can provide. Clearly, Nikon doesn't place a high priority on this capability (and neither do ...
However, the D90's video system is not perfect. Since video can only be recorded in Live View mode, you're stuck with the restrictions that implies (see below). The sound is recorded monaurally and the video format is AVI which, although it's ...

The new Nikon D90, due to hit shelves in September, boasts unique 720p movie HD capabilities, a much improved sensor and surprisingly, a GPS option.
I have been a professional photographer, using Nikon's (F90, FA) and a medium format (Bronica ETRSi), and have to say after looking hard at digital cameras, the D90 won me over
