Kodak Zx1

The Kodak Zx1 is a welcome new weather-resistant addition to the HD pocket camcorder realm

Compact, light, rubber casing

Fiddly controls, could do with a better zoom, slow to start up

We liked the variety of shooting options on the ZX1 and its compact yet durable design. We would’ve liked to have seen more on-board memory or the provision of at least a modest SD card in the box, however. And while the footage we took looked good, we...

Kodak Zx1

Kodak's rugged portable video camera will appeal to outdoor shooters, once they get over the unit's strange controls.

Choice of recording modes ; HDMI output ; Uses AA batteries ; Rugged design

Digital zoom is laughably bad ; Uses AA batteries ; Controls are poorly labelled ; No real on-board storage

There's certainly a market for the Zx1 if you want to do a lot of outdoor shooting and need a compact video camera that's solid enough to survive a few knocks and bumps. It will take you time to learn the controls — and you will sometimes curse them —...

Kodak Zx1 pocket camcorder

It's in your pocket, it's instant start-up, it's a whole new way to catch those Kodak moments.

Kodak ZX1

$80 AUD for a camera of pretty decent quality. It's not the best, controls aren't fantastic, but hard to get wrong with some use. Slightly rugged, which is handy 'cos at that price it's tempting to put it in harms way.

Works fine on mac, It's cheap

Kodak ZX1

Overall, this is a fairly good attempt by Kodak to create a go-anywhere, HD Digital Camcorder. I give it pluses in the quality of video it produces. However, as CNET confirms, the zoom is awful! Although, I've tested a number of cheap HD Camcorders,...

Price, Size, Connectivity, Weather Resistant, Uses AA Batteries, HD footage isn't that bad

Lack of proper zoom ability, Mic quality is average, chews up storage space pretty fast when shooting in HD, HD60 function really didn't need to be added

Kodak ZX1

I got this for 70 bucks delivered so for what it cost it is simply what it is. It meets my expectations - skate, bike and surf videos all fine as a spalsh or even drop in the water and it's fine...

Robust, water resistant, and basic operations, but with a good output

controls are tricky

does what it says, and the image is suprisingly clear in outdoor situations, indoor is good, but not as clear as outdoor.

great price, great video quality

it was $100...whats bad is obsolete at that price

Kodak ZX1

I saw one in a shop and found that for the same price the JVC version of these pocket cameras looked better as the JVC recorded in 1080p and the JVC took 8 megapixel stills as well.

pocket size

AA batteries, not 1080p and poor stills

Kodak ZX1

I rate this product 8 out of ten, mainly because it looks nice, small for a video camera. On the other hand you have to get used to the cheap and tricky double operation buttons. All in all a great small video camera, but needs work in the button area.

Weather resistant, comes with a free editing program, looks, generally easy to use, HD HD60 VGA and picture, fits into small pockets, comes with rechargeable AA batteries and finally great videos

Chunky, cheap buttons, small screen

Good

This is not a bad little video camera. It is easy to transport around and easy to use. The casing is sturdy and would take a couple of knocks quite well I would imagine. Video quality is good, although filming technique will have a large bearing on...

Very small....little bigger than a mobile phone really. Fits into the pocket so can be taken anywhere.

The small (x2) zoom is not really worth using and it makes the video jerky when in use. No internal memory other than a tiny bit for (I assume), demo purposes. SD card required.
