Sony HDR-SR10

Most camcorder buyers treat the phrase 'high definition' like some high-tech gospel to be fanatically revered. After all, if it has 'HD' slapped on th...

1920x1080i high-definition video, additional memory stick slot for hybrid recording, performed above average in low light conditions, shares most of the same features as its premium-priced siblings

Its rivals in the entry-level HD space are significantly cheaper

While slightly overpriced for an entry-level HD camcorder, the HDR-SR10 offers a variety of innovative features for the asking price. Those with beefier wallets, however, would probably be better off with one of its deluxe stable mates.

Sony Handycam HDR-SR10

The SR10 offers a good balance between value and quality in the emerging consumer HD video space.

Excellent quality video ; Facial recognition works very well ; Decent shooting capacity ; Can shoot to HDD or Memory Stick

Average microphone ; Tilted design a little wearing on the hands

On a pure quality front, the SR10 represents quite a fair balance for the asking price. Just make sure you pick one up beforehand and make sure it's a good fit for your preferred style of shooting.

I paid a little under AUD$1000. For this price I think you will be very hard pushed to find a better picture in decent light. For that matter any camera in this price range is not going to give you crispy clear video in low light. Turn some lights on!...

Great video in good light. Nice zoom

Low light gets grainy

Sony Handycam HDR-SR10

I was in the market for a HD camcorder and I wanted to see which one was the best when putting them side by side in the retail store. My findings were that the JVC GZ-HD10 had the better image around that price point. Tested under various lighting...
