The hardware of mac is not about performance that make it costly but the quality of it. The hardware is really solid and doesn't brake down as much as most pc is basically alien ware quality and average pc speed.

Apple iMac 21.5in (Late 2009)

By James Hutchinson (goodgearguide.com.au)

Apple's refreshed iMac desktop computer is cheaper but more powerful than its predecessor, and it features a more vibrant display. If you're still a Windows user or have an older Mac, the latest iMac is certainly tempting. However, we weren't impressed...

LED-backlit display, SD card slot, powerful, comparatively inexpensive ;

No Blu-ray drive, Magic Mouse is troublesome ;

As with all of its computers, Apple bundles Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. You also get a copy of iLife 09, which includes iMovie, Garage Band and iPhoto software. Apple's productivity suite, iWork 09, isn't included

Apple iMac (24in)

By Ross Catanzariti (goodgearguide.com.au)

The range of Apple iMac desktop computers has been refreshed. There are virtually no aesthetic or design changes — faster processors, more memor...

Design remains superb, good performance, Apple attention to detail, all-in-one casing saves space

Exorbitant price, no included Apple remote, keyboard has no number pad, rear casing gets hot, only RAM can be upgraded, no adapters included for DVI or VGA connections

The upgrades to the latest Apple iMac are largely underwhelming, but the computer retains its excellently crafted design. It's still an outstanding machine, but the smaller keyboard, lack of included remote and the fact that no display adapters are...

Apple iMac (24in 2.8GHz)

By (goodgearguide.com.au)

Great design, quiet

Won't run the latest games at highest settings thanks to its graphics card

Apple shows that the melding of hardware and software makes for a very compelling computer. Sleek and cool-running, the latest Apple iMac is arguably the best one-stop PC you'll find, at home running Windows or its native Mac OS X.

Apple iMac

By Melissa J. Perenson (goodgearguide.com.au)

Supersleek all-in-one system offers great image quality.

Sleek, all-in-one design, improved screen quality

All-in-one design limits expansion

As appealing as the new iMac is, with the Leopard operating system coming this month, I'd recommend holding off. If you do, you'll get the new OS preinstalled.

Apple iMac 20in (2.4GHz)

By Ross Catanzariti (goodgearguide.com.au)

Apple has given its iMac range of desktop computers an overhaul, and most of the changes are aesthetic. The gloss white finish that has made the iMac ...

New aluminium design, new keyboard, good performance, excellent included software package, built-in iSight webcam and microphone

All-in-one design means minimal upgrades, glossy display, mouse doesn't match colour scheme

The all-new iMac has been given an aesthetic overhaul and the changes are positive. It's a more than capable machine for general use, and the included iLife '08 software only sweetens the deal.

Apple iMac 24-inch (2009)

By Rich Brown (cnet.com.au)

Apple made a number of changes to the 24-inch iMac, but making it available at this price is the most impressive. The rest of the updates are welcome, and Apple's multitasking capability remains unmatched.

One of, if not the, most affordable 24-inch all-in-one PCs ; Twice as much hard-drive space as older models ; Fast Nvidia graphics chip makes the iMac a capable gaming system ; Best-in-class multitasking performance ; iLife digital media suite comes...

Fewer interesting hardware features compared with recent Windows-based all-in-ones

Apple's service and support policies remain one of its disadvantages, however. The one-year parts and labour policy fits in line with the rest of the industry. The 90-day phone support limit, as always, is subpar. At least Apple's online support site...

You can also purchase various support upgrades, including extended phone support, and assuming you live near one, you can always drag your system into one of Apple's stores.

A slight bump to the specifications for the same price, in addition to a much appreciated option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year when the brushed-aluminium-and-glass design was first introduced.

Apple iMac (24-inch, 2.8GHz)

By Matthew Elliot (zdnet.com.au)

A slight bump to the specifications for the same price, the option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year.

Industry-leading design, Big, beautiful display, Excellent application performance

Higher-end model features same midrange graphics card of lower-end models, Free phone support ends after 90 days, Might want to hold off until Leopard is released to save yourself the cost of an OS upgrade

With the same elegant design as its 20-inch, 2.4GHz sibling, the 24-inch, 2.8GHz iMac offers 30 percent more screen area and a modest performance boost. The iMac competes with the PC desktop market now better than perhaps any previous Mac to date, but...
