Big screen, Blu-ray player, HDMI, digital TV tuner, space for a second hard drive
HDMI output can't be scaled by the graphics card, CineDash panel is awkward to use, bright power LEDs cannot be dimmed, no FireWire
With an 18.4in high-definition screen, a 5.1 speaker configuration, a digital TV tuner and a Blu-ray player built-in, the Gemstone Blue is almost like a complete home theatre setup. It's fairly easy to use and it's a good performer, so it's a good...

Acer's interesting take on the entertainment desktop replacement makes a few good steps, a few bad, but ultimately is a viable option.
Good quality screen ; 16:9 ratio ; Cinetouch" media navigation ; New design ; Acer Empowerment software
Cheap plastic wrist rest ; Cinetouch panel too high friction ; Entire mouse pad isn't active ; Integration between media controls, Acer Arcade Deluxe and Windows Media Center is lacking ; Single TV tuner only ; Sound management is not made easy, with...
While we have been justifiably harsh on the Aspire 8920G in some areas, there's no doubt it represents exceptional value. At AU$2,699, an 18.4-inch screen with Blu-ray capability can't be ignored. If you're looking for a desktop replacement that won't...

If it's a Blu-ray equipped desktop replacement you're after, the 8920G is a fine choice.

Last month Acer rolled out a brand new 18-inch Blu-ray notebook in an effort to ride the perceived lift in demand for Blu-ray. The new model is big and heavy and more suited for home use or a corporate boardroom.
If you want a big flashy notebook with Blu-ray and all the bells and whistles that one can possible pack into a notebooks this is the model for you
It is pricey, heavy and sucks battery juice when playing a Blu-ray movie. In our testing, the battery ran out just after we ran Close Encounters
Look elsewhere if price is an issue. Page: 1 2 3 4 [5]

THE Gemstone Blue's ease of use and good performance make it a decent notebook.
