Apple iTunes TV

By an episode, or a complete season

Ability to order a whole 'season' is handy, quality is okay

There are free alternatives

It works with Apple's customary ease of use, the quality is good and the selection of programmes extensive, but we're not convinced of the economics of paying nearly $2.99 an episode, when there are free alternatives.

Apple TV

To say that Apple TV is the world's best media streaming device could be considered faint praise, the tech equivalent of calling someone the world's t...

Ease of use and setup, design, attractive interface

No included cables, can't copy content in a specific order, tiny remote

Although we feel it could do more, Apple TV is a simple and effective way to get content from your PC or Mac into your lounge room.

Apple TV

A lack of playable formats and limited functionality really stunts the appeal of the otherwise elegant Apple TV. Read our Australian review.

Well built ; Great interface

Limited format compatibility -- no DivX ; Lack of iTunes video content ; Unable to make playlists ; Limited onboard storage means PC or Mac needs to stay on ; Cannot sync iPod

In the States, this may be a more immediately satisfying product, but the fact is that the Apple TV does very little and does so at a relatively high cost. The Xbox 360 Core is only AU$50 more than this device and, when coupled to your Windows XP Media...

Movies on-demand, made easy, Beautifully designed interface

Review: Apple TV

relatively cheap, stylish, easy to use, access to tens of thousands of movies, can be used for other online work, no contracts or plans required, gives users access to a rudimentary form of home automation and is compatible with a range of devices.

no hard drive, can’t use it as your dedicated music server, only uses expensive HDMI or optical connection, hard to set up when it comesto  a multi-device environment and needs a broadband connection.

A promising start for Apple's living-room takeover, but we're still waiting for the best bits.

Apple TV

When you see a product with the name "TV" in it, your brain is likely to whir into action and assume that it relates to your TV. A TiVo, for instance, while not exactly a prize-winner on our side of the world is still a device that plugs into your TV...

Limited format compatibility -- no DivX ; Lack of iTunes video content ; Unable to make playlists ; Limited onboard storage means PC or Mac needs to stay on ; Cannot sync iPod

To make Apple TV truly compelling, Apple needs to remove its reliance on a Mac or PC altogether. It can already download trailers from the Apple Web site, all it needs to do now is connect to an iPod

Apple TV

The main tout is the lack of video support, however this is not entirely Apple's issue, kudos to Gary for the jab (MPAA). However it has a great interface- no.1 IMO and funnily enough a factor in the purchase- way better than X-box, Beyonwiz, Tivo.

Most things

Video support, no search function for personal media

Apple TV

I love my Apple TV purely for the ability to rent movies on demand. The ability to not have to head to blockbuster or be limited by what movies Foxtel is screening is just great!
