Samsung S9 review: a refined Android flagship with show-stealing camera

Samsung has created the most premium and polished phone of 2018

12MP rear camera with dual-aperture technology ; Still fabulous Super AMOLED 18.5:9 QHD+ screen ; AR Emoji, while not perfect, are lots of fun

Similar specs to the Galaxy S8

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus review

Below expectations

Good camera ; Dependable, fast performance ; Excellent display

Camera often takes washed out photos ; Pixel 2 takes noticeably better photos ; Nothing except the camera is new

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is a great phone, but it's not really a big update over the Galaxy S8 series. The dual-aperture feature makes less of a difference than you would think, and the Pixel 2 remains a better camera phone.

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review: If it ain't broke, don't fix it

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ offers out-of-the-box functionality that exceeds most other devices. It's one of the leaders of a new generation of hardware,

New speakers are amazing ; Great camera performance in low light ; Great design and display ; Out-of-the-box functionality surpasses rivals ; 3.5mm headphone socket

You might never find all the features ; Display can crush shadows in movies ; Camera could be better with HDR ; Price

The Samsung Galaxy S9+ is possibly the most fully-featured smartphone on the market. It offers out-of-the-box functionality that exceeds most other devices. It's one of the leaders of a new generation of hardware, pushing one of the nicest quality...

Samsung S9 Plus review: the most powerful and elegant big phone in the world

The Galaxy S9 Plus sets a new benchmark for super-sized Android phones, despite not much changing from last year's model

Standout dual-lens camera system ; Luxe 6.2-inch Super AMOLED display ; Better-placed fingerprint sensor

Similar to Galaxy S8 Plus ; More expensive than S9

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus review, price and release date: Tweaks in all the right places for Samsung's plus-size flagship smartphone.

Feels great for a big phone ; The OLED display is great and highly customisable ; Numerous camera features on offer

Iterative upgrade ; AR Emoji are just bad ; Some lag with Samsung’s software

Aside from the overall size, price and camera, the biggest difference between the two Galaxy S9 flagships are the size of their batteries. The 3500mAh cell inside the Galaxy S9 Plus is a nice upgrade over the 3000mAh cell in the regular S9, but...

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review

Small tweaks and upgrades make an already excellent phone even better

The best screen on a smartphone ; Versatile dual-lens camera ; Fantastic performance ; Eye-catching design

Little has changed from last year

More evolution than revolution, but that’s still enough to make the S9+ the best big Android phone you can buy today

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: Android perfection achieved

Each year we look to Samsung's Galaxy S release as the smartphone that will be purchased by the masses and it is clear that the Galaxy S9 Plus will be one of the best smartphones of 2018.

Stunning display ; Strong reception and fast wireless network support ; Multiple security features, including an iris scanner ; Fast and wireless charging ; microSD expansion card slot ; High level water and dust resistance ; 3.5 mm headset jack

Back is a fingerprint magnet

Samsung Galaxy S9+ review

Samsung's plus-sized S9 sees double with a dual lens, dual aperture camera

Stellar screen ; Top-notch camera ; Incredibly powerful

Almost unchanged design ; Uncomfortable to hold for some

A big, blockbuster phone that awesome at pretty much everything. It’ll probably be too big for most people though.

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus review: Excellent, not monumental

Despite not feeling like a major improvement over last year's flagship, the Galaxy S9 is still one of the best phones around.

Dual Aperture effective in low light ; Excellent cameras overall ; Speedy performance ; Long-lasting battery

Not a major improvement over last generation

Samsung Galaxy S9+

It's not revolutionary, but the Samsung Galaxy S9+ sets the bar for smartphones in 2018, with the best hardware features you can get.

Gorgeous screen. Beautiful body. Spectacular network performance. Dual main cameras with excellent low-light capture. Loud audio.

Camera software oversharpens images. AR Emoji and Bixby disappoint.

I don't think the past 12 months make a great innovation year for smartphones. That doesn't mean we're seeing bad phones, it just means we aren't seeing game-changing phones. With in-display fingerprint sensors coming at the end of 2018 and 5G networks...
