GOOD GEAR GUIDE - EDITOR'S CHOICE

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 review: an expansive action/RPG game with immersive gameplay

Immersive gameplay ; Forces players to make difficult and often morally ambiguous decisions ; Detailed and extensive universe ; Excellent voice acting and script ; Great combat system for a RPG

Storyline may be hard to follow even for seasoned players of the Mass Effect series ; Multiplayer mode is a bit bland

Like its predecessors, Mass Effect 3 is engaging and addictive. You really do get to step into Shepard's shoes where the choices you make a difference and impact the lives of other characters in the game. Highly recommended.

Mass Effect 3

The epic conclusion to a half-decade long story, Mass Effect 3 shows everyone how narrative and choice should be handled.

Incredible narrative, tying together five years of highly-individualised storytelling into one juggernaut ending ; Phenomenal visuals - every planet feels unique and every location is eye-poppingly gorgeous ; Fantastic voice acting, from an all-star...

Facial tech isn't what it could be - poor lip-syncing plagues some conversations ; The ending reminds me of LOST: decisive, as many won't understand why it moved in that direction

Mass Effect 3 is gaming perfection in my eyes: it is exactly what a game should set out to do to the player from the get-go. The story is heart-wrenching and inspiring all within the same breath, the combat is intensely satisfying and the pay-off for...

Mass Effect 3 Review

A satisfying end to an epic trilogy.

Is Mass Effect 3 a good way to finish the trilogy? Looking over the game in its entirety, it certainly is. The focus on "galactic readiness" is an evolution of the relationship system that helps define the series, while a stronger focus on action, a...

Mass Effect 3 Review

Mass Effect 3 is a piece of interactive art at the highest level and a perfect crescendo to one of the great sci-fi dramas of our time. An absolute must-buy...

Stunning conclusion to an epic sci-fi opus; Refined action feels organic and visceral; Massive cast of characters; Plenty of side-quests to keep you occupied; Planet-side vistas are a sight to behold

Camera issues during combat; Weapon customisation too lite-on; Out-of-place on-rails sections

The combat leaves something to be desired, which might diminish what you get out of playing it in 'Action' mode, but what Mass Effect 3 really sets out to do - wrap up one of the best space operas of all time - it does expertly. I'd recommend...
