Sonos One

Supporting both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, the Sonos One is the best-sounding and most feature-packed smart speaker we've tested to date.

Great sound ; Small and convenient ; Proper Alexa integration ; Supports Google Assistant (in 2018)

Alexa not fully compatible with Spotify at launch

One smart speaker to rule them all.

Sonos One review: The best-sounding smart speaker you can buy

The Sonos One offers significantly better music quality than your average Bluetooth or smart speaker without breaking the bank and includes the full Alexa experience. That means it's the first Sonos you can control with your voice. It's also a great...

Excellent audio quality for the price ; First Sonos to let you control your music with your voice ; Attractive, inconspicuous design ; Works with just about every music service you can use ; Alexa integrations works almost exactly the same here as on...

Voice commands only have full functionality with a few music services ; Spotify voice commands not available at launch (but coming later this year) ; Voice commands are sometimes a little buggy. ; Setup process is a bit complicated

Sonos One review

Simply stated, the Sonos One is the perfect smart speaker.

Superb sound quality ; Dead-simple setup ; Super easy to use ; Excellent Alexa integration ; Priced well

No threaded insert for mounting ; No Bluetooth support

The Sonos One is everything we’d hoped it would be: The best-sounding self-contained Alexa-enabled speaker you can buy, with the promise of Google Assistant and more coming soon, and the convenience and flexibility of Sonos’ killer app and ecosystem.

Sonos One review

A Sonos Play:1 with Amazon Alexa built-in? Sounds like a winning combination.

Stylish and unobtrusive ; Solid, sophisticated sound ; Expandable Sonos range ; Alexa well integrated

Lacks full Alexa control ; Still no hi-res audio ; Buggy beta software

Essentially, the One is a Play:1 with Alexa built in, and that’s a fine combination in our book

Sonos One

The Sonos One is a versatile wireless speaker with excellent sound quality, support for multi-room audio, and Amazon Alexa voice control.

Multi-room audio with flexible stereo and surround configurations. Powerful sound for its size. Works with Alexa voice control (with support for Google Assistant to come).

Sound can distort at top volumes. No Bluetooth or wired audio connections.

The Sonos One is a worthy and superior upgrade to the Play:1 (which, curiously, is still available for the same $199). It has all of the Play:1's excellent features and sound performance, with the added benefit of Alexa and the promise of Google...

Sonos One Review: Amazon's Alexa Is Here, But It Still Has Some Growing Up to Do

The $199 Sonos One is a great-sounding speaker you can command with your voice.

Sonos One review

Sonos meets Alexa in a mash-up you'll (mostly) love

Audio sounds great ; Lovely design ; Easy to use setup and app

Alexa doesn’t fully work right now ; No Spotify integration

A brilliant wireless speaker that’s occasionally scatterbrained

Sonos One review

Are Sonos and Alexa a match made in heaven?

Full-bodied, rich sound ; Combines best of Alexa and Sonos ; Plays music while Alexa is muted ; AirPlay 2 support

Google Assistant is MIA until 2018

Sonos’ debut Alexa speaker is a cleanly designed, feature-rich and great-sounding device that brings together the best of both ecosystems. You’ve got the ever-improving Alexa on the one hand, and on the other you’ve got Sonos with its own multi-room...

Sonos One Review: When Alexa is the DJ

Smart speakers are big business now, and with Amazon's Echo and Google's Home dominating the market, Sonos had a choice: step up or slip behind. The Sonos One shows the connected speaker stalwart chose to play the game, and not just with one virtual...

Fits smoothly into an existing Sonos system ; Assistant-agnostic means you won't be locked in ; Sound quality belies the size and price ; Controlling whole-home music by voice is transformational ; All the usual Alexa skills

Some configuration stumbles ; An Echo Dot is cheaper

Sonos One review: Smart, stylish and great-sounding and now with Airplay 2 support

Sonos' compact multi-room speaker meets Amazon's Alexa, and they're set to be best friends

Great sound quality ; Apple Airplay 2 support ; Amazon Alexa support; Google Assistant coming in 2018

Won't pair with Play:1 ; No speaker mount options

The real clincher here, however, is that the One isn’t tied to any one smart assistant. So, regardless of whether you prefer Amazon or Google’s way of doing things – or potentially want the best bits of both – the Sonos One will ensure that great...
