Philips 40PFL8605H

Sadly this TV doesn't have an in-built Freeview HD tuner so you will need to buy a seperate receiver

Excellent 2D picture quality; Elegant design; Lots of connections and features; Superb remote control; Good sound

Crosstalk issues ruin 3D; It's expensive; The reflective screen is prone to double imaging when viewed off-axis

The 5000 series use direct LED lighting with no local dimming; the 7000 series uses edge LED, as does the 8000 series we're looking at here, while the top-level 9000 series use direct LED with local dimming

Philips 40PFL8605H

This 40in edge LED-lit LCD TV marks Philips' debut into the world of 3D.

Very slim ; Exceptional 2D pictures ; Simple remote control

Reflective screen ; 3D crosstalk ; Screen input lag

If you’re a fully paid up member of the brave new multimedia world, the 40PFL8605 is packed with just the sort of features you’ll probably be looking for from your next TV. An Ethernet port, for instance, allows you to not only visit a passable...

Philips 8000 (40PFL8605H/12) review

The Philips 40PFL8605H/12 LED TV can produce good 2D pictures, but its 3D performance is relatively poor. It also lacks key features that you'll find on similarly priced rivals, such as a Freeview HD tuner and support for BBC iPlayer.

Great contrast levels ; Rich, bright colours ; Good picture-processing features

No Freeview HD tuner ; Poor Internet features ; Pricey

The Philips 40PFL8605H/12 is a mixed bag. We like its elegant design, and the TV makes HD movies look fantastic. But its 3D performance is poor and the lack of support for BBC iPlayer and Freeview HD is very disappointing at this price.

Review: Philips 40PFL8605H

We like this sleek LED-edgelit panel's sharp pictures and soulful sounds, save for the slight motion distortions.

Overall sharp and vibrant pictures; superb sound quality; unique Ambilight function; activity-based controls; good spread of Web services; abundant picture modes; frameless design

Visible motion artifacts; poor A/V port placements; redundant SCART inputs, extremely reflective screen

The sexy Philips 40PFL8605H comes across as a sharp, layman-friendly HDTV with plenty of niceties, but could be better with motion reproduction.

Philips 8605H

Philips 8605H is one of Philips' high-end 2010 models with Perfect Pixel HD Engine, Ambilight, LED and NET TV that also features a internet browser. Philips 8605H is also Philips first 3DTV.

Response time; Black reproduction; HD picture; No clouding; Inputs pointing down or to the side; 3D picture quality

Standard settings; Shadow details; Color accuracy; Reflections from glass front

Philips 8605H has some interesting functionality. The internet services are still limited and not very useful at the moment. I was very interested in trying the internet browser but unfortunately it let me down. There’s neither flash support nor video...

Philips 37PFL8605K

Sehr gutes 2D-Bild ; Satter Ton ; Vollwertiger Internetzugang ; Vier Tuner
