Ouya Review

The Ouya is a device with a lot of potential built with love, but technical issues and a weak library that may not get better for a long time limit it.

Sleek and attractive compact design ; Great for modders and indie devs ; Inexpensive games, all with playable demos ; The possibility of a huge number of exclusive games from the community

Disorganized menus and notifications ; You get less than with a smartphone ; Limited Launch Library ; No access to Google Play

The Ouya is a bold vision realized, created by gamers and funded by gamers. But is it made for gamers? Maybe, but there are already better options available, especially to those that have a new smartphone and access to the Google Play store. The laggy...

The Ouya could be a great, inexpensive Android-based gaming system for everyone. Right now, though, it isn't even close.

Lots of potential. Future software updates might fix most problems.

Closed-off software. Mediocre controller. Middling graphics performance.

You can connect other Bluetooth controllers to the Ouya, but the support and compatibility for them is inconsistent. I could pair the Moga Pro to the Ouya as an HID device, but that disables the right analog stick and makes the left analog stick act...

Ouya review: can an indie console take on Sony and Microsoft?

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo may no longer be the only names that matter in gaming, but the "big three" is still very much alive in people's minds. Even as iOS and Android have gotten better games, and better hardware to run those games, capital-G...

Inexpensive ; Inconspicuous design ; Plenty of raw power

Too few games ; Existing games aren't very good ; Problematic, unfinished interface ; Limited functionality

This might be cool, someday, but for now it's far from it
